Your Passport

For any trip, you must have a valid passport. It must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date and must have at least 3 blank pages, including 2 facing pages.

The Russian Tourist Visa

As mentioned above, a visa is mandatory to enter Russia. The Russian embassy is known for being relatively strict with applications—no missing or incomplete documents will be accepted. Your visa application must be prepared carefully and ideally at least 3 weeks to a month in advance.

The Russian tourist visa allows you to stay up to 30 days in the country. Processing times range between 9 and 12 working days.

Documents Required for Your Russian Visa Application

To proceed with your application properly, here is the list of documents you must provide:

- Your original passport: it must be in immaculate condition, valid for more than 6 months after your return date. It must absolutely have 2 blank facing pages. Remember to remove your passport cover if you have one.

- A copy of pages 2 and 3 of your passport on an A4 sheet, that is, a copy of the pages containing your photo and signature.

- Two recent color identity photos from less than 6 months ago, not scanned and of good quality. Photos must be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm in size, centered on your face, facing forward and not smiling, with a plain and light background.

- The completed and signed visa application form.

- Travel insurance documentation with repatriation assistance. The consulate requires the original with authentic stamps and signatures from the insurance provider. Your insurer must also be on the list of insurances approved by the Russian Consulate.
